About the Society
Advancing verifiable knowledge on the science of psychoactive substances.
Our Purpose
The Society of Self-Experimentation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge through an open-access, online journal. We publish peer-reviewed self-experimentation reports, aiming to challenge the stigma around this historical scientific method and highlight its value in modern research.
Our Position
The society maintains a neutral stance, neither endorsing nor condemning the use of psychoactive substances. Our focus is on upholding the principles of free scientific inquiry, promoting harm reduction, and ensuring the availability of accurate, verifiable information. The journal serves as a forum for robust debate on the scientific, ethical, and legal dimensions of self-experimentation.
Commitment to Scientific Integrity
We are committed to the highest standards of scientific integrity. All submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process by an editorial board of experts from relevant fields.
A core requirement for publication is that each substance studied must be accompanied by independent chemical analysis to confirm its identity and purity. We also protect contributor privacy through a secure and verifiable anonymous submission process.
Open Access & Disclaimer
The journal is free to all readers under a Creative Commons license, with authors retaining full copyright.
Disclaimer: Contributors assume full legal and ethical responsibility for their experiments. Self-experimentation carries inherent risks, and the society accepts no legal liability for any harm that may result.
